I've been able to get nasrend to run in win95/shortcut.  dropping down to
dos-mode won't fly and neither will straight boot to dos.  at least with
any speed.  rendma won't fly yet on my machine.  pent200mmx, sb64gold,
stelath-II, win-tv card, win95OSR2, USB turned on.

icr2 doesn't fly no matter what.  got a patch from somewhere and it
didn't help.  maybe I'll just by the re-released version.

: Where do we stand on the Diamond Stealth II being able to run N2 in dos or
: running ICR2 at all.

: Thanks,

The icr2_v2k patch does not work with the Diamond Stealth2.
Previously, Nascar2 (nasrend dma -4) and ICR2 (indyfast dma) ran very well on my
machine with the Sierra Screamin 3D (V1000).
I have been able to get Nascar2 (nasrend dma -4) to run on the V2100; but, only
from Windows95. Seems to run very well with everything turned on. Will not run
when machine is restarted to DOS.
I have tried everything I can think of to run ICR2; but, no success.
The best I can do, is to get the program to run with sounds playing; but,
graphics are totally scrambled. On most trials, the machine just locks up.
I sure hope they can get the situation with the V2100 sorted out quickly.

I can run ICR2 on my Stealth II.  I have to run it through Win95, and
i have to run indysafe, but it seems at least as fast as indyfast on
the V1000.   That patch did not work for me either; I'm using the
original .exe and spd3d.uc files.

Say what?
This is plug and play?
Is this a temporary workaround?

The spd3d.uc file in the patch is screwed. Use the one from Vquake.

Well, this may sound hard to believe, but I found a workaround of sorts
for ICR2 on my system.

First, I copy the spd3d.uc file from Nascar2 into my ICR2 directory.

Second, I run indycar2.exe with no flags (this is the patched version
that defaults to indyfast mode)

The screen flashes a few times and I see the startup screen, and the
intro "movie"

Now I CAN play the game with the nascar2 spd3d.uc file, but the mirrors
are square and the top of the dashboard is flat. AND, the cars in the
mirrors are somewhat invisible so I dont like it.

Third, I quit ICR2.

Fourth, I copy the new V2100 spd3d.uc file back into the directory
(replacing the Nascar 2 one that I had previously copied)

Fifth, I run indycar2 again (defaults to fast mode) and it runs GREAT!!

I get 30fps with all details on , and on a P90.

Hope this helps!

P.S. I think that you can use the original indycar spd3d.uc file in
place of the nascar2 spd3d.uc file, but Im not sure.

Rename the current spd3d.uc to spd3d.uc2

They are working on a patch for N2 dos.  Win95 version runs better
than dos version of first verite chip ever did.  Takes some tinkering
to get it right.  There is a patch for dos Icr2 but do not use the
spu? file in the patch.  Use the old one.  I get a much better
framerate in S.O.D.A.  and a added bonus  GP2 which is non rendition
has a much better framerate with more detail than the first rendition
card did.
