need help with N2 and Stealth II S220

by Bart Saylo » Thu, 30 Oct 1997 04:00:00

Having waited for weeks for the new Stealth II video card to replace
my Matrox Millium 4mg card in order to run N2 in rendition mode. I am
unable to get NASREND to run.  My problem is, when the game is started
it complains about not having UniVBE loaded. I run the "uvconfig"
provided with N2 and it replies "No supported SuperVGA chip detected".

has anybody else had this problem and figured out how to correct it?

but John, I tried that. It doesn't work in DOS, it doesn't work in
WIN95(I know I didn't mention that in my post). Doesn't matter if I
issue the NASREND or the N2REND command. When I start the game in
Win95 the machine locks up solid and requires a hard reboot. I had
read something where somebody mentioned that it made a difference
whether the game was installed from DOS vs installing through Win95. I
am having a hard time understanding what difference that would make
but would be willing to try it if somebody could verify this.
The game runs fine in 2D mode but the whole idea behind spending the
money for this new Rendition card was to play N2 in 3D mode.

I would prefer to run the game from DOS due to the performance
increase vs Win95 given a choice(and dislike for Bill Gates'
practices....go Linux). but hey, if I can only get 3D mode in Win95
then so be it.

Any help is appreciated. I have tried the Diamond tech support with
little success.
