F1 2002 problems!!

by Chuc » Mon, 17 Jun 2002 09:13:48

I just purchased this game today and I am having some problems.  The
problem is that the game either kicks me to the desktop or just locks
up during a run.

My system specs are as follows: AMD 1.3GHz, Abit KT7 Mother board,
512Mb RAM, Gainward Geforce 3(original model) video card, Maxtor 20Gig
7200 rpm hard drive, Phillips 4X4X32 CD-RW drive, and running under
Windows 98SE.

I run the 3D setup fine and even go as low as 800X600X16 with only
systray and explorer running in the background and it still does this.
I don't understand with my setup it is doing this.  If someone could
help a newbie to EA's F1 series it would be great.

Thanks in advance,
 Chuck

F1 2002 problems!!

Hey Chuck,

I have a similar problem (no lockups) when I press the escape to
complete say a training/driving school session - I get booted to desktop.
The program doesn't crash cause it remembers my times etc, so I don't know
what is happening...it is damn frustrating!

Config as follows:

AMD 1.33GHz T'Bird, ASUS A7V133, 512 MB PC133 RAM, Leadtek GeForce 3 Ti200,
Saitek X36 HOTAS & Thrustmaster 360 Modena Pro Wheel running Windows XP Pro
and 29.42 Nvidia Detonator drivers....it did it with 28.32 Nvidia Detonators
as well....

Cheers,
Dawesy

It does sound like we have similar problems.  I still can't figure this out.  It
might be a video driver issue.  I have the 28.32 det drivers for my card.  I saw
in a post that someone suggested the 16.30 drivers.  I guess I will download
them to see.  If you find what is the problem let me know.

Later,
 Chuck

You could try any number of things,

1.  Try different drivers (as you said).
2.  Change the bit depth and/or resolution of your desktop
3.  Try running the game in a window
4.  With the locking, this could be a sound issue, also.  Try fiddling with
sound settings, etc.
5.  Free up some hard drive space (if you think that might be problem)
6.  Increase swap file size (if you've configured for a certain amount)
7.  Reinstall the game
