Has anyone had difficulty in installing and getting the game to run?

I have installed it on a desktop Dell 450 mhz and the screen goes white and
music plays and the system is stuck.

I then installed in on a Dell 650 mhz Laptop. Got further into the game this
time. I got a colored screen and choose the team/driver/country then the
game closes.

I re-launch the game and it goes to this exact point again and closes. It
does not let me choose race or anything else. It keeps closing at this same
point. The audio is really choppy on this computer.

I did have to install the DirectX 8.1 version off the CD onto my computer.
It re-booted and says everything is fine, but the game will not run.

Next computer to try is a Dell 2 GB mhz desktop. Maybe it will work on that
one?

Any idea's?

I have had all kinds of problems with EA F1 00 and 01 to the point where I
finally gave up on both of them and the mods...same thing...game would
install...set options...then try to start the race a CTD...I tried everything I
could and that anybody suggested with no luck...MAYBE if I ever see 02 CHEAP
enough I will try--just for the mod's...

I purchased it from a retail outlet (Circuit City) for $19.95 USD ($) so I
figured what the heck, can only loose $20 if I didn't like it.

Problem is I have not even been able to try it as of yet to like it.

I will try one last computer and then research the EA Sports web site for
answers.

Another idiom of this game. When it request you to register the game, it
will not allow a electronic registration, the option is not functioning on
either of my two attempts so far. Without registration, they offer no
support. I guess I will have to fax the registration in and go that route.

What are the MODS?

clik on your start button, then run then type dxdiag.exe   you should see
some D3d screens and there should be a directX enable or directx disable.
clik on that button several times.  try it with the button saying disable
and if that doesn't work click til the button says enable and try again.

You need to post more info.  What video card?  Driver version?  How much
RAM, etc.  Far too little info to help.  Wild guess, neither an old 450 or a
laptop have the proper video cards to run the game.

I think this is the problem as the game works flawless on the new Dell 2 GB
mhz with a 128 mb video card.

I think the problem with registering online has to do with age. That is, set
the question about age on the form to over 13 I think it is and it is no
longer greyed out.

MODS are modifications to the original  game to enable different type cars
and add additional tracks.  IMO the racing with these mods is much better
than the original game.  www.simmods.com would be a great place to start for
information on these mods.

The game installed fine for me, but when I try to run it, after the initial
screen with a picture of the car in it, the screen turns black and nothing
happens. Ctl+Alt+Del won't work to get out of it. I have to turn the computer
off to get rid of it.
I have Dell P4 1.5 GHz, 512MB Ram, directX version 4.08.02.0134, Santa Cruz
sound card driver 5.12.01.4138 and Nvidia GF2 ultra 64MB driver 6.13.10.4072.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I don't know much, but the other computers I attempted to use with this game
had a small amount of Video memory. 16 mb at the most I believe.  You have
64 MB which I think should work.

You have the DirectX 8.1 installed either off the CD or from Windows?  I
don't think this means anything as my laptop has the 8.1 installed and it
passes the 3D test and the thing still doesn't work.

You have gotten about one screen farther than I did with my laptop.

Another thing that is different for the computer that it finally worked for
in my case is that the newer computer has Windows 2000 Professional Version
(not the Window's ME) instead of windows 98, both computers with Win 98
failed to work.

Maybe it is an operating system problem?

I have uninstalled virus protection programs, reinstalled the game and now it
works. Fingers crossed. :)
