8-)
I've been trying to buy EA F12002 for ages, since the all singing all
dancing GTR2002 patch came out without success. Then, finally I saw it for
sale in PC World for 15 so I snapped it up.
Took it home and installed it, then tried to run the game to make sure it
ran ok, before attempting to install the GTR 2002 patch.
But...The game attempts to start, I get the EA F12002 start up box/screen,
then the screen goes blank, I hear what sounds like a hydraulic jack, then
nothing, the screen is blank, the mouse can be moved, but there is no
picture and no sound and nothing works, not even Ctrl, Alt & Delete. I
have to reboot the pc.
So, I read the readme on the EA F12002 cd and it says you need at least
500mb swap file, so I change my swap file to 500mb, restart the pc, the
game does the same thing, will not work, locks up.
So, the readme also mentions drivers, so I check that my video and sounds
card drivers are the latest...
I have a GeForce3 Ti200 64mb card using v41.09 drivers which were only
installed last month, so I assume they are ok.
I check my soundcard (Hercules Gamesurround Fortissimo II) and install the
latest drivers from the Hercules website (v6.07).
I reboot and attempt to play the game again, but same thing, won't work
and locks up.
Lastly, I make sure Dircetx is ok. I know I already have Directx 8.1, but
to be sure I re-install using the Directx files on the EA F12002 cd, but
still no joy, the game still refuses to work.
If it helps I have an Asus A7V m/b with latest bios and 4in1 drivers, and
am using 512mb PC133 ram with an AMD Duron 1.3Gb cpu and also am using
win98se.
I only bought this game for the GTR2002 patch. Does anyone have any
suggestions as to what I might try next, or what the problem might be?
Many thanx....(posted elsewhere, so apologies if you see this more than
once!)
