I'm thinking about getting F1 2001.

Is there any expectation that it's successor
will be on the shelves soon?

since the 2001 title came out in November I wouldn't expect another title
till then. I'm not 100% sure on this but I think F1 won't allow a current
season game so that's why they wait till November because the season is
over.

Both F1 2000 and F1 CS 2000 came out during the 2000 season. The first
one in April and the second one in October AFAIR.

Yep, thats what I thought, which means we could see something in april /
may perhaps...which would be nice :). Although I dunno if my wallet can
cope ;)

I've wasted enought money on contemporary F1 games the last few
years. gp3, f12k, f1cs2k, f1-2001. f1-2001 is starting to be
promising, but still has a few issues making it not very usable except
trotting around the track a few times when the real season starts. So
if the next one doesn't fix this issues and have proper 24 car field
multiplayer is a no-buy.

Correct me if i'm wrong here, but wasn't F12000 actually based on the 1999
season. And then the october release of 2000 champ season would have been
after the end of the actual 2000 racing season, simular to the current F1
2001? Like I said I'm not 100% percent sure on this, but I have read that
FIA won't allow a current season game. I'm not talking about the number in
the title, but the actual content of the game. I know if you look at the Ubi
soft titles they appear to be a year behind.

No, you're wrong (you asked me to correct you ;-) ). F12000 was based on the
2000 season. It had Jaguar (even with a picture of a Jaguar on the cover), the
correct drivers (including the brand new rookie Jenson Button) and the new
track at Indianapolis (one of its big selling points).

Dave Ewing (still playing F12000 until the chip sector rebounds so I can sell
some stock options and upgrade my lowly P2 400/Voodoo3).
