What is that the new spreadsheet accelerator?  Don't believe it just because
you see it one of the 2 million cheesy "news" sites.

Lets hope that 10x fill rate aint at 640x480 with 16bit color and
microscopic 256x256 size textures!

Do any of the Voodoo3 cards people have, have the any what look like bypass
feature ala the Voodoo2?

I'd be more interested to hear about a 'triangle setup'
accelerator.  Fill rate is pretty good, now let's focus
on projecting more polys while leaving more cpu
time for the game underneath it all.  It's time to branch
out in a new direction.  From what I've heard the new
Intel instructions don't count.

Your missing out John.  I'm Running Falcon, EAW, and WW2F at 1600x1200.  All
I can say is WOW!  Of course you've got to have a nice 21 in monitor for it,
so pick one up while you're getting the v3.

Yep! me too, just upgraded 1 Voodoo 2 12mb to a Voodoo 3. What I
have seen is a small but welcome increase in frame rate in F4 campaign
This card really shines when comparing the visual quality over the V 2
though. This sim and all others I am running benefit from no pass thru
cable. They have more depth of color and crispness then before. V2 was
a little "washed out" I thought. I'm sure AGP helps too.
How can you do SLI if most motherboards only have 1 AGP slot right
now? Mine has only 1, thought most were like that right now..soo..SLI
kind of OBE in this regard. Or am I just screwed up?

I can appreciate your sentiment re the v3. My post was more in regards to the
need to be on the cutting edge when it may not be necassary. As in my case the
only sim I "play" with any dedication is GPL and my current card ( a measly 8meg
thriller) runs it full blast with all options on. I will get a new card when my
needs demand it, which could be this fall when N3 is released. The other factor
is my current 17" monitor, I intend to do both the card and the monitor at the
same time. Until then I will leave my money where it makes me money. Besides, by
this fall who knows what card will be on top?

The V3 SLI board is going to have two V3 chips on the same board. I
found this piece of information from the combatsim.com E3 message
board. According to it, a 3dfx engineer had confirmed that.

Jaakko:

Wo.... you mean I could obtain a V3 3500 single SLI card?   I wonder how
much faster that would be than my Obsidian X-24?

Well, according to the E3 rumours, yes. Go and check out the whole
discussion at the following link:

http://www.combatsim.com/discus/messages/7005/7052.html?SaturdayMay15...

There's also talk about a V3 with four (4) chips on-board... I won't
believe it until I see it, however :-)

Save your money some more...Early  E3 reports put the N3 product
WITHOUT the GPL engine.  Looks like N3 and the Legends of Nascar
items will be N99 upgrades...
seriously disappointed..

Yeah. Ok. They maybe make dang-sh*tty-motherf*cking fast cards... but who
can afford them? 4 V3 chips? Hmm.. $1000 maybe? (nah.. but close)

I'd prefer a TNT2 solution if the board gets just a little little bit
cheaper.

Huh?  Strange you would say that considering that the V3 2000 costs almost
half of what a Diamond 770 TNT2 Ultra does yet comes very close to it's
performance.  I would hazard to guess that a V3 SLI card or V4 "might" cost
a little more than a TNT2 Ultra or maybe even match in  price.

Why do you think Voodoo Cards are shitty?
