F1RS w/Pure3d?

Hi.

I need the wisdom of those in this group who have gone before me.....

I've just installed a Pure3D in my PC (Intel P188 (2.5x75), 64MB, S3Trio
Video card)
I am getting the famous 1 frame per second problem at race start.
I've turned the sound/distance of other cars down to almost nothing;
I've
turned off replays; I've set WAVPW in that init file; and I've reduced
the graphics
details slightly (no sky, 1 less than max distance drawn).  Still I get
jerk-o-rama
at race start.

I've installed the Glide 2.43 drivers and both F1RS patches.

I feel that my setup should run this pretty smoothly based on
performance reports
of machines with similar hardware to mine.

I know others in this group have done various things to speed the game
up in
this scenario.   Could you regurgitate them for me?

Thanks,
Andrew

A couple things that have helped on my system: Set up a permanent 150 Mb
swap file as(after defragging) as opposed to letting Win95 handle virtual
memory , shut down anything running in the background (CNTL, ALT, DEL at
desktop) and above all else, turn off your screensaver. These are common
things that help most any Win95 game, but are easy to forget.
