Not wanting to get into a war over which is best, just wanting to know,
having been really disappointed with GP4, is it worth me swapping it for
F12002? I recall someone rec'ing F12001 being the better buy for some
reason.

I have a 900 Duron, 384 Ram, GeForce Ti4200 card - will it run at a
reasonable rate on this set up?

GPL - 20 car field, full detail, rock solid 35fps at all times in Monaco, so
will this come anywhere close?

In fact - all out, which modern F1 sim would be the best purchase and won't
require me to spend 5 hours setting the graphics up?

The 'best buy' aspect of F1 2001 is the price, usually less than $20(US)
and the availability of several mods.  IF you are a die hard F1 fan, then
that isn't too much of a selling point, but the ALMS cars, the FIA GT cars
really add value to an already low price.  Both of those titles will be
upgraded for F1 2002, in fact they will probably have several big
enhancements over the current mods, but those releases are several months
away.
memory and video card are good, the CPU might be a-bit weak.  IF you go F1
2001 there are two patches, the first is vital as it improves video
performance and adds FF.
You may find yourself spending more time figuring out controllers rather
than graphics.  With so many input options, getting a drivable setting is
not the easiest thing to do.

Can't comment on GP4 since I don't have it.  With regards to performance
though, your configuration is very similar to mine, and F1 2002 runs
decently but not amazingly fast on mine.  I have seen as high as 60 fps
or so if I turn details down.  I typically get in the mid-30s during a
race with most details maxed, but it does dip into the low 20s and
sometimes below 20 on the start grid.

Yeah, but if you pop an Athlon XP 1800+ in there, it will run fantastically
(And won't cost much)

But how easy is it to do that? I thought my motherboard only went up to
1.2ghz? Would I have to change the bios? I can't seem to find out if my
chipset will take the upgrade?
