GP4 vs. F12002

Hi there,

a german pc game mag. tested both GP4 and F12002 in their July editon and
F12002 won easily.

They stated that F12002 will be delivered together with a copy of Gamespy
for internet races!

I am curious to see what kinda multi it really offers.  I am afraid it will
be nothing more than a slightly polished version of F12001 multi. Having
gamespy will help find more players, but unless the multiplayer is improved
totally it will be the same as using RELAY now on F12001. I just wish every
racing game had multi like Papy. They have really figured it out while the
rest of the software world seems to be 5 years behind.

*scratches head*

I thought GameSpy was free...

Or did something change?  It's been a loooong time since I've used
it...never liked it...

Gamespy is free, as long as you can tolerate the flood of advertisments.
And I agree with you, Gamespy is a crappy service and I stay away from it as
much as possible.  F12002 will have other methods of connecting online,
won't it?

On what basis did they judge this? Most games magazines only care about
graphics, instead of whether the simulator actually simulates properly.

I think the "good review" fees to the magazines value more than all
the features of the game. EA is a big player and has lotsa money to
put on "alternative marketing". Still I think that F12002 will beat
GP4 hands down.

In that magazine the scores were 88% - Grand Prix 4
89% - F1 2002.

I don't call that hands down ;)
