I dont get it.
After being a GP1, 2 and 3 fan for years, even I admit that GP4 is flawed
when compared to F12002 and yet PC format and PC gamer have given GP4 90%+
reviews and F2002 only 70%+.

I want to read impartial reviews and not biased reviews which convince you
to buy a product which is flawed or substandard.

I remember years back , on the recomendation of PC format that the Power VR
card was the best 3d card and way ahead of the voodoo cards.
The  quote was the mag said was that Power VR was not just streets ahead of
the Voodoo cards but motorways ahead.

It was rubbish when compared to a Voodoo card and I wasted my money.

We want impartial reviews!

Most games mags tend to mark down and criticise EA games a bit because they
are out every year and often only contain minor updates/improvements to the
previous version.

Actually powerVR WAS far superior technology to the voodoo cards but needed
a higher spec PC to run.  Lower spec PCs owners (in the majority) bought
Voodoo and finally pushed powerVR out of the market.

It was, but there was one reason why the Voodoo 3DFX card won out - Quake.

id software released glQuake for the Voodoo, and everybody a) wrote their
games for Glide coz id were, and b) bought the card to play Quake.

PowerVR is a bit like betamax videos - better technology killed off by the
oppositions better marketting and partners.

And Nvidia planted fake benchmarks, prevented certain websites from
preview/comparing a V5 with a GF2 etc etc...Everybody plays dirty in one way
or another...just some get caught.

I remember when Unreal Tournament and Quake 3: Arena were in development,
and Q3 had curved surfaces, so the UT developers made a pipe out of
thousands of polygons in one of their levels and told their demonstrators to
'pass it off as curved surfaces'. Unfortunately, the text file with that
instruction in got burned onto the test CDs sent out to select previewers
(like magazines), who printed it for the world to see. Tough luck, guys!
