I've got a Diamond Monster 3DII 12MB for games. The Fire GL is just my
primary video card. Just wanted to check out the difference between
OpenGL and 3DFX for GPL. My Voodoo2 does very well. No great loss...

I had the same problem.. but it was the Nvidia reference drivers that caused
the problem. but what I did was install the Nvidia drivers... then ran the
game.. I got the menus to look good but the screen would go black on me like
you are having. I then reinstalled my STB drivers and the menus suck but
now I can race.

You might want try the Reference drivers and see what happens (when I tried
it, I would get an error from Windows 98 about my 'kernel32..'. General
Protection Fault and my whole Operating system changed resolution modes on
me when I cleared it)

Check your resolutions.. try ALL the available resolutions and see what
happens... it may just be certain resolutions.

67k's of download can mean hard coding to some people. Just because
your average Micro$shaft "app" comes in around 50megs doesn't mean you
cannot put quality nor thought in a 60kb download.

I am indeed looking forward to that download. In the meantime, this
beta hack for TNT users is a good temporary holdover for me.

How about just don't flame, Uwe. And go back and read read the
relevant thread- esp. what Papy had responded to in the first place.
That is, if this is a thread you really want to keep alive! You've got
a Voodoo1, so perhaps you should just keep out of the OpenGL issue,
particularly if you can't restrain yourself regarding it.
