GPL - drivers and other W2K related stuff.

Greetings RAS!

I've just got myself a spanking new Dell machine through work with a
P4 1.8 and GF3 etc. etc.  I'm running Gpl with all the appropriate
patches (CPU speed etc) but I was wondering what the best video driver
version was for use with Gpl and would appreciate any advice on where
to get it (apart from the NVidia home page of course).

The machine is running W2K and I had thought about going back to
W98SE, but as so many here seem to be successfully running W2K and Gpl
I thought  I'd stick with it.  However I do have one major question /
problem.  I have an MSFF wheel and am not happy with the fact that I
cannot install the sidewinder software.  The big problem is that using
only the W2K game controller stuff through the control panel means
that, amongst other things, I can't specify whether I want dual or
split axis pedals or whether I want the automatic centreing forces
turned off (absolutely essential for Gpl IMHO).  Plus not having
access to the profiler software is a major pain, because I have a wide
variety of driving games/sims that require a variety of settings.

I would therefore appreciate any advice for configuring my MSFF wheel
for use under W2K.

TIA

Andy

GPL turns off the centering forces anyway, wether you have them on in the
Sidewinder applet or not. So does N4 for that matter. They do on my MS FFB
wheel (USB version) anyway.I have XP and didn't install the Sidewinder
software either because XP says it won't run properly on XP. Depends what
version of the MS FFB wheel you have. I think the latest one can use the
Sidewinder software on XP, so should work on Win2K also. But, that doesn't
help you I guess. I doubt MS will fix this problem either.
