SCGT in-car sounds

I apologize if this has already been discussed, but is there a patch
available or in the works to allow an in-car driver to better hear his
own engine's sounds?
I'm constantly overreving because I can't hear my own engine very well,
even when I'm not around other cars.
I downloaded a patch to lessen the other cars' sounds, but what SCGT
really needs are more "throaty" engine sounds a la GPL so you can shift
without constantly staring at the Tach.
Thanks

I believe Revved's V2.0 sound pack fixes this by lowering the "outside" volume
of the cars.

I think Rrevved's(AKA Ed Bain) sound pack is great but I did not notice any
reduction in the volume of the AI car engine noise.  To me this a real problem with
many sims.  Paul

The 1.551 patch solves the problem.

LOL! Drive from the inside of the car, not the outside.

Just how in the hell do you drive from the outside of the car in SCGT?  I didn't
know that there was such an option, seriously.  Paul

Just keep hitting F4 and you will cycle from***pit view to no***pit
to outside chase (arcade) view. While in outside chase mode, -only- the
'exterior' sounds are used by SCGT. In my soundpack, the exterior sounds
have been lowered in volume so that when you are actually -inside- the
***pit, you can hear your engine above the other (exterior) sounds.

I never use the external views, so... :)

Like I said earlier , I really like your sound pack but IMO the AI engine noise is
still to loud.  Example, I can hear a AI car that appears to be 50 or so yards behind
me and I'm doing 150mph+.  I don't think this is at all realistic!..I'm not blaming you
but the sim programmers themselves.  Another example,  I'm going by the pits at over
150mph, my engine and transmission are screaming and low and behold I can hear cars in
the pits.  IMHO this is crap, especially since I as a driver would have a helment on
and be wearing earplugs/microphones.  Paul

The outside view is achieved using the NUMBER 2 KEY. not f4.
1 key- dash views (cycled with  f4 key)
2 key- OUTSIDE VIEW
3 key- trackside view
