It never ceases to amaze me that so much obvious hard work can go into a
title like this, but glaring problems make it into the final version.

There are many problems that others have pointed to, but I have two that are
especially annoying to me:

1) why will the game not remember that I want in-car view with the
dashboard--why do I have to hit F4 twice every time I drive????

2) I realise that the in-car dashboard view was apparently a late addition
(in itself a ridiculous situation), but a tachometer that a) doesn't span
the necessary rev. range for the selection of cars available in the game,
and, b) has a fixed red line indicator that certainly does not match all of
the cars!!!!!!  This is just unbelievable to me that this could make it to
release....

Hope these and the other problems get patched a.s.a.p.

Marc.

Regarding your first point, take a close look at all of the screens under
"options".  On one of the screens, on the left-hand side, there's a check box
for you to select the opening view.  In-Car is one of the choices.

I haven't noticed your point about the tach.  You may be correct on that.  I
just haven't noticed.

Yes, it gives you that choice, but you still must toggle F4 to bring up the
dashboard...every single time.......

Is anyone else having trouble with the "look behind" feature? Mine will not
work with the keyboard or the controller. Everything else works fine.

I had my look behind button not work once - I just created a new "Player" file,
and it's been O.K. since then.

As far as the dashboard thing, I've seen early screens of different dashes for
other cars, and I think early press on the title mentioned unique dashboards
for the cars, so obviously the in car dash view wasn't entirely a last minute
decision. I would venture a guess that the unique dash thing got dropped
somewhere midway for either technical or licensing issues, and that player
feedback got it reinstated in it's current form for the release. I would love
to see not only unique dashes, but better dashes in any sequels or updates to
this sim.

Don't forget the apparent lack of headlights in the in-car view.  Overall,
I still like SCGT as a fun break from GPL.

I also don't like having to constantly select the in-car view, the
solitary dashboard and inappropriate gauges, but it's wrong to call
them "bugs".

Cheers!
