I've just discovered a bug in GPL, not major but annoying.  If I go to
the Player Info screen and change cars, then return to Training or a
race, all the Drivers Aids are turned on although when I go to the
Options|Sound & Gameplay screen, they are shown as turned off.  After
I return from the Options, the Aids are now off.

Try deleting controls.cfg from gpl/players/player_name, then after you
recalibrate and reassign your controls see if this still happens.

I wonder if anyone has noticed this: when inside the car, hit <shift>+T.
This will make the red rev indicator move downwards. Does anyone have an
idea of what use that could be? Maybe to setup your gears?

Exactly.  If you accidently over-revved the engine and want to monitor
further destructive behaviour, just press SHIFT-T to reset the
red-indicator.

The red needle is the "tattletale", it shows the highest revs you've
run until you reset it with Shift-T. It's documented, by the way.

says...

The red marker is showing the highest revs at which you've run the
engine. Shift-T is a documented command and is to reset the marker. I
usually reset once each lap, at the start finish line, so I can watch
what my max RPMs are during the upcoming lap. It really helps to point
out if you are over-reving at any part of the lap.

Don't forget when you're in online multiplayer mode:

~  to open the chat window when NOT in the car
Alt-L for Latency (internet delay, like a ping) Note: Chat window must be
CLOSED when you perform this function. Open the chat windows ("~")  and you
will see the response.

Incidentally, in the chat window, you can use the up and down arrow keys to
scroll through the messages. Didn't know about this until I suddenly got
stuck not being able to see what I was typing! (finally figured it out!)

Thanks everybody. By the way, I went through the (german) manual twice now,
but couldn't find a trace of this feature.

Hi,

In noticed that this telltale thingy sometimes gets reset by itself. I
don't look at the gauges during a race often, and I never saw the reset
happen. But sometimes the red needle is moving simultaneously with the
rev counter, so it must have been reset.

Does anyone know why and when this happens?

Thanks,
Johan.

Shame on me.

I believe it's called a telltale reset (shift+t). It tells the tale of a
driver over revving an engine.
