N4 - logging into to Sierra problem...

by Dave Pawlikowsk » Mon, 30 Apr 2001 07:41:53

I recently dumped Windows ME and went back to 98SE. Re-loaded everything
including N4. I updated it with the patch and attempted to log in.

I got in, but was then told that my version was either out of date or
modified, and would I like them to check it for an update?

The program did, said I was up to date, and so I tried to get back on. No
good. Same error.

I re-loaded my set-ups and car files with the re-load and had this problem.
I pulled all of that out and still had a problem.

I'm at a loss. Any thoughts on what happened? Thanks...-

Downloaded and installed the 1.1.1.0 patch yet?

If not: www.papy.com

N4 - logging into to Sierra problem...

Sometimes the patch improperly renames files with DOS names.

I swiped this from another newsgroup.

If you see these in your main N4 folder, rename them as indicated:

"NASCAR~1.EXE" > "NASCAR Racing 4.EXE"

"RENDSE~1.DLL" > "RENDSERVER.DLL"

"SIERRA~1.DLL" > "SIERRAUPN4RES.DLL"

Al - You were right. The patch did do those things, but not the last on that
list of three. I fixed the first two and logged right in.

Thanks for your help.

ps - I went to a Daytona, field of 10 cars and led after 4 laps. 20 lap race
and on the last lap a wrecker backing up on the track took me out. N4
on-line can be trying at times....
