Are there more than I how like ICR2 more then CPR, its older but I like
almost everything more.
And with the rendition version its looking good.
Shall they release a new Cart game soon.
I dont have any of their Nascar-game but are they something to have?

If you like ICR 2, then definetly buy Nascar 2! Tight battle on ovals
-usually door to door - is easier with Nascar, since the cars behaviour
is more forgiving. The road courses in Nascar aren't especially
interesting, but the short ovals like Rockingham and Bristol... a lot of
fun and sweat!

Well let's ask the question from another point of view...
"Anybody like C:PR more than Icr2???" hehehe.

Yes, very rich colors and smooth polygon rendering.  IMHO still one of the
best looking racing sim on the market, considering that the details aren't
as full as the new titles of today.

Hmm Sierra has a CART License until 2001 IIRC, so speculate on an upcomming
software in that timelapse.

They are classics.  I would suggest to get Nascar Racing : 1999 Edition for
a choice between the 3 current Nascar Sims from Papyrus.  It's a great
product, and has an incredible gameplay.

Agreed.  I've never been a Nascar fan, but I finally took the plunge and
bought N99.  If you have an old sports game acting as coaster from EA Sports,
MS, Eidos, GT Interactive, or a couple of others, you can get a full
refund from Sierra if you find a box with the coupon (does anyone have an old
sports game that they want to send me so I can get the refund??!).

Why did I get it?  Well, because I had a lot of fun with, err, EA's Nascar
Revolution demo!  But (a) it isn't out and (b) I wanted one that was a better
sim.  So far, I'm having fun running against 95% at oval races and 90% at
Watkins Glenn (hey, I'm new to Nascar).

Yes I do, but mainly do to haveing a lot of fun online racing at the zone.
Admittly the AI in CPR is poor even when you run Pro,  but for online I
have really enjoyed the game.  And unlike a majority of people I thought
most of the tracks are very accurate, tho I have oly actaully drove Road
America,  Mid Ohio, and Portland.

Yep, ICR2 by Papyrus completely rocks compared to CPR, but what would
expect from a Microsoft product? I have yet to see one which does
not suck utterly and completely ;-) Ok, so it wasn't developed by them,
but somehow their name on the package brought  that thing down
to their usual "quality standard". See Alison Hine's web site for a
good review of both products.

ICR2 is still the best CART sim around on the market, ok, it has a
a couple of bugs but otherwise is a very good product.

Just go to a local software store and buy an EA classic sports game
like Jack Nickelous 4 or something. Those game generally cost
oh around $5.99 now :-) Has anyone recieved their refund yet?
I sent mine around the end of November 98.

The game is cool. You can download the indytrack for the Brickyard 400.
That is a very tough track to race at (with all the traffic). I like to
practice
at all the tracks by running 10% races and start in the back of the field.
Then I adjust the AI until I can just barely make it to the front by the end
of the race. So far the brickyard is impossible. I have to go to a 20%
race :-)  I also haven't run at the road courses much. But the game gets
really cool if you have a local friend and race against him with the modem.
In NR1999 you still need the DOS exe's though.

YOu seem to have missed, Monster Truck Madness 1 & 2, Motocross Madness, Age
of Empires, Close Combat  and Close Combat: A Bridge too Far. All Microsoft
licenced games that rock pretty well.

Seems they all don't suck.

Well, I'll give you my experience. Could never get IC2 to run on my machine
at all. I had a version I bought for next to nothing at some used software
store, so I never thought much of it. I bought the "new" version lately
because it was pretty cheap, and guess what? Same problem. Rendition version
doesn't work at all and the software version is so old and ugly I wouldn't
even run it.

They are all kinds of patches, workarounds, and flat out guesses as to
getting it to work with Rendition but they're so bizarre I haven't even
tried them. I can't believe someone would ship a product that doesn't even
work on current hardware and then have the guts to put "Rendition support"
right on the box!

IC2 is a total waste of money. Get CART or GPL. At least they work.

Good to see you're still hangin' around, Jim.

Cheers!
