Well, I downloaded it.  I can't believe I did, but I figured "What the hell?
It's only like 9 megs and maybe it's got good crashes or something..."  Was I
ever wrong about this one...  this is the worst, most arcadish piece of ***
I've ever downloaded (except for Newman/Haas Racing demo by Psygnosis, but
that's a different story...)  The cars stick almost as good as they do on F1
WGP on the Nintendo 64!  Hell, the whole game feels extremely reminescent of F1
WGP except that it sucks more.  What's with the cartoonish graphics?  The only
thing that impressed me was the sound, I loved the sound in this game.

This game does have great sound.  No, it does not have the most realistic
car physics around, but not all of us here want super-realistic physics.
You sim heads already have many realistic titles to choose from.  Let us
casual race fans have a game without ripping it to shreds.

I think some of the cars look pretty good.  The only thing that turns me off
is the lack of real sponsors on the cars.

normally I'd agree with you, but the adverti***ts do claim to be the most
realistic =racing physics...

Whoa...I'd say its the opposite way around.  There are TONS of lightweight
F1 games and other racing games yet the pool is very small for truly
realistic racing simulations.

That and I think games, such as this one, get ripped on so much because they
make outrageous and unsupportable claims such as 'the most realistic racing
physics', etc.  Market the game...but support the claims you make.

Well, if they made those claims, then you guys have a right to be mad.  I
wish game companies would just be honest about their game.

Me looks at this tiny little text in at the toppermost of my computer glass.
I see these little  words:

rec.autos.simulators.

In this bit of ***space, it sounds like the game should be shredded.
There are other spaces that will no doubt welcome the game, despite the
horrifying lack of sponsorship-accuracy.

Perhaps we might see the lack of "realistic" corporate logos as a small bit
of resistance to the total sponsorship of just about everydurnthing humans
can do or think on this planet. (yeah, right)

This message has been brought to you by Nike, Microsoft, and a whole
freakin' horde.

Honesty in advertsing, What a novel concept...

What planet are you from jerkwater.

Just bend over a little bit furhter so the *** software company can stick
his big fat chubbie in just a little bit further....

The nice thing about arcade games is that it lets people who are not into
sims be good at them. After a while those people will look for some thing
more challenging.
Most people don't go into a store, having never played a racing sim, and ask
for the hardest sim availible.
Thats how I started racing on the PC, my first racer was POD. I move on to
F1RS, MGPRS2, and GPL.

But if I hadn't played POD, I would have never bought F1RS, MGPRS2, or GPL.
So Arcade games are good for the market.

Seems that I am only one of a handfull that actually enjoys this game, and I
consider myself a 'sim' fan. The physics put me in the frame of mind of
World Circuit Racing and that is still one of the best simulators ever. As
far as the sponsorships, who cares? I'm sure that eventually you will be
able to paint your own cars, download car sets, etc. Take GP2 for instance.
The graphics may not be the best, but I have seen worse. My only real gripes
about it is that when turning to the left, the feedback seems to ' go away'
after turning past a certain point, and the accelerator seems to be closer
to digital (on/off) than it is to analog (gradual).

I can't believe this is even a discussion! I've spent a bit of time with the
demo, just to make sure I wasn't missing anything - then I double-checked the
site I downloaded it from, just to make sure this wasn't a joke! For starters,
the graphics are bad, B-A-D. Their are a few nice touches here and there, but
everytime I had to turn from the screen and look again, I winced. If they are
using more than 256 colors, I honestly cannot tell.

So, fine, OK, not the best graphics in the world - as long as everything is in
place under the hood, it's acceptable, right? Well, sure, if turning all the
options to the most "realistic" possible actually made it feel realistic, we'd
be good to go. Unfortunatly, this thing is not only an extremly arcadish
simulation, it's a bad arcadish simulation that isn't any fun to drive.

Someone mentioned F1 WGP for the Nintendo - that was good arcade F1. The
graphics were good, the sounds were nice, the pit chatter was helpful and added
to the sense of competition - everything was in place except for a simulation
quality driving model - which of course, you'd be mad to expect on a console
game. F1 WGP I had fun with, Official F1, I feel sorry for. If they were going
to do arcade, they should've at least hired Paradigm again.

Ok, everyone says that this game sucks. They all say that the graphics are
bad and fuzzy. The only time that the graphics on my machine are fuzzy, is
whenever it is raining, then at times I can barely see the track, but this
is because of the rain and not the graphics. As far as turning at the center
axis, instead of the wheels, I just can't see it. The only time this seems
to happen to me is whenever the feedback 'goes away' and then it feels more
like a loose or drift condition, versus turning at the center axis. Someone
else said that whenever you loose it that the car goes into an
uncontrollable spin with seemingly random behavior, but I have actually
managed to 'dirt track' the car on several occasions. Besides that how many
times have you ever seen a pro actually save a formula 1 whenever the back
end gets away.
Since my opinion seems to vary so differently from everyone elses, then
could it be due to the hardware I have? I am using an AMD K6-2 with 3D Now,
a Voodoo2, ACT labs Force RS steering wheel, and a Yamaha Waveforce XG
soundcard. incidentally are you sure that your game is set to
Simulation/Realistic mode instead of arcade? I again repeat that I am NOT an
arcade racer fan.
