Downloaded the Eidos Official F1 demo (while playing MMM) and installed it.
I have one word: (followed by more words)
Yuck.
It looks like ***on my PII/450_256MEG with a V3/2000 in either D3d or 3Dfx. I
didn;t bother with software mode. The graphics are overly colorful and not very
detailed looking. I couldn;t get anything but 800x600 in 3Dfx and D3d went up
to 1024x768 (and still looked like ***on my 21" monitor) The interface is
annoying and SLOW, too.
I really don't care for F1 racing anyway, so there is no magic for me in the
licensing deal with FIA. The driving on full sim mode is awfully numb feeling
and my MSFF wheel didnt FF much. It also wouldn't let me assign the shifting to
the shift paddles, even with a custom created profile.
The game looked and felt a couple years old, and because I don't give a hoot
about the racing series, it had nothing to attract my attention otherwise. I
guess I should leave the opinions to the people who like this kind of racing. I
didn't like GP2, either, and lots of folks think that's a great sim.
