Before buying that Logitec, better check out the pedals. They're getting
slammed by reviewers and buyers alike. The problem is the extremely short
throw of the pedals. One post said they are so short that driving GPL is
impossible.
Be careful.

I drive GPL everyday with a Logitech Formula Force. You'd have to pry my dead
cold fingers from around this wheel before you could get it away from me.

The pedal fix is simple and easy.Check out the discussion group on
<http://www.force-1.com/> or email me for details.

I also drive GP2, F1RS, CMR, Viper and various demos with it, can't get N2 to
work though.

I'm a rookie at this, but i just bought one, and it does turn total left and
than right and
then center on boot-up...
in control panel it says it "self calibrates".

I heard people who've placed squash/tennis ball behind the pedals to
fix the problem or replacing the springs with better ones.

I just like to know whether it's possible to swap the whole pedals set
with a different one, for example with the tsw2 pedals. Are there
electronics in the logitech pedals ? if not, is it possible just to
swap the wiring ?

regards,
Badrul Hisham

YUP.  There are two pots in the pedals, three wires each; simple plug-ins.  I
swapped the Logitech wiring into my beloved CH pedals, and it's much nicer.
But the stockers really aren't that bad, if you just stiffen the springs.  I've
had TM pedals and I liked the function of the Logitech ones better out of the
box.

Right well the Thrustmaster P.O.S. went back today and in a couple of
days I should have my nice red logitech.
Now I used to have a TM nascar pro so I guess I kinda like stiff
springs.
Well you know the next question, what springs do I take out and what do
I put back in?
Where can I get these springs? are they expensive?
Keeping in mind that I'm in Europe would some kind soul send me the
springs in the post and I will send some cash back?
Many thanks for the answers.

Paul,

Take the screws out of the bottom of the pedals and open the case, you'll find
two whimpy coil springs. Take these to a hardware store or a plumbers shop and
find something made of thicker wire and close in diameter to the original
springs, if the new springs are too long just cut them down to the proper
length. I paid less than two dollars for the springs and chose a heavier spring
for the brake than the throttle.

Another tip with the Logitech wheel, sometimes they have a very slight (2-3 mm)
bit of play in the wheel on center, not a problem really just a "loose" feel.
VERY carefully remove the plastic center of the wheel, use a fine jewlers
screwdriver, it is a very tight fit. There is a central nut holding the wheel
in place with a circuit board behind it. This nut must be tightened slightly
but BE VERY CAREFUL, if you crack the board, you're screwed. There is a washer
under the nut which has a folding tab to hold the nut in place, fold it down
before tightening the wheel and restore it when the nut is tight again.

I hope you enjoy your new wheel,

I have seen a lot of talk about the pedals but I have found them to be
fine, albiet a little sensitive.  I'll be stiffening the springs
though.  Overall the wheel is great!  No probs with GPL, you just need
to be smooth just like everything else in GPL.

Hi

I need some help with the WFF and GPL. I can't seem to use the wheel in this
game; there is no option that I can find under input devices to choose the
wheel.

When I choose to calibrate after unchecking DirectInput and checking General
(I think), I get a screens showing 3 axes which say Unregistered. When moving
the wheel around and the pedals too, I see some of the numbers moving, but
when I start a race, I still get no response from the WFF.

Or do I have to setup a profile for GPL separately in the WFF control panel?

Thanks in advance for your help!

You have to use DirectInput, not Generic. Make sure the wheel is setup
properly in your Windows Game Controllers control panel.

It's a digital wheel.  You _must_ use DirectInput.
