Logitech Formula Force - force "quitting" in midrace?

by John Cauthe » Fri, 30 Jun 2000 04:00:00

I've had a Logitech Formula Force wheel for some time now and I'm having
what I feel may be a common problem with it.  The feedback forces suddenly
quit altogether after about 20 to 40 minutes of racing, depending on the
game.  For example, Grand Prix Legends quits after 20 minutes, on average,
whereas Sports Car GT goes for about 40 minutes.  It seems to be
proportional to the amount of feedback the game provides.  What's odd is
that I can immediately exit the game, restart the Wingman Profiler, lauch
the game again, and the feedback forces are back!?

It's a pretty serious problem, IMO.  I was leading a race in GPL when the
force feedback quit and it destroyed my concentration.  I would up finishing
in 13th!

I have to wonder, is this a common problem?  I've tried contacting
Logitech's tech support but haven't heard back from them.  Is there a
software solution (I've upgraded to the latest driver) for this or is it an
electo-mechanical problem?

Uhm, yeah I think there is some sort of solution to your problem but I'm not
sure what it is. Check out the message board at www.wingmanteam.com . You
might find the answer there.

Thanks Thomas, I just went there and gave it a look-see.  I didn't see my
problem described, although a few similar problems were listed.  I posted a
question about my problem in the specific games forum.  Maybe I'll get an
answer there.
