Logitech Wingman Force and MS Sidewinder Force Feedback Pro co-existence

Hi,

I have a problem getting the two controllers co-exist. I have had the
MS FF Pro joystick for a year now and it has worked without problems.
The stick is connected to the game port in my Soundblaster AWE 64
Value.

I bought the Logitech Wingman Force wheel for Christmas. The problem
is that I can not get the games to recognize the wheel. It is
connected to a USB port (that is why I selected this wheel instead of
the MS wheel in the first place). In the control panel the wheel is
shown correctly and I can test the properties (turn the wheel, press
the pedals and buttons) and everything works ok.

It is just the games that I can not get to recognize the wheel. I have
Midtown Madness and NFS III that I have tried,

When I uninstalled the MS Sidewinder software the games found the
wheel and it worked perfectly but after I re-installed the Sidewinder
sw the games only find the joystick.

The os is Windows 98SE.

Any help would be appreciated.

TIA

Well, I have the same combination, but found that I need to have only one
or the other driver installed in the game controllers window for the stick
or wheel to be recognised by every game. It appears that some sims may not
be programmed to recognise the existence of more than one controller in the
system. It's easy enough to switch the drivers without uninstalling
anything, though, and you can still leave both the Logitech and Microsoft
profilers running without affecting anything.

What you say confirms my suspicions. I understand your advice so that
I should add and remove the Sidewinder in the Game Controllers window
depending on what game I want to play.

I will try that at the next opportunity.

Thanks,
  Frankie
