Under Windows 9x launch up the Sidewinder control panel, choose the
profile manager and create a new profile for GPL. Make sure that you have
the "separate axis" checkbox checked, deadzone at zero, everything
at linear etc.

Unfortunately I'm not under Win98 right now so I can't check the exact
names of the menus/selections, but I'm sure you'll be able to locate
the split axis setting.

 Go to Start\Programs\Microsoft Hardware\Game Controllers\profile activator.
Then go to file menu and select new profile. When the next window opens just
above the picture of the wheel there is a button labeled settings. Click
that then at the bottom of the screen you can select pedal-combine as y or
seperate. Dont forget to name and save the profile when you are done.
It does make a big difference to seperate the pedal axis for more precise
throttle and breaking control.
