Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback Wheel

I see that CompUSA has these wheels on sale for $70 after a couple of rebates.
Is this wheel any good?  I currently have the NASCAR Sprint wheel with the
paddle shifters and like it.  It would be nice to have the force feedback tho.
The sims that I usually play are F1CS2K, Sports Car GT and NASCAR Heat.

Any comments would be welcome.

I like it. I had that LWGP FF wheel and it's way better than that
wheel (better clamping system, more sturdy etc.) But some people
report poor frame rates using the MSFF USB wheel, I haven't noticed
that myself though.

And...the three titles you mention, are some of the least effective when
working with FF.  They all have it, but not in the same quality as the
patched GP3 and/or GPL.  I haven't run F1rc so I can't comment on it's FF
implementation.   Still, a $130 wheel at dang near half price is very
tempting.

FFB in F1RC is poor. No feeling of the road at all except the rumble
strips, but you do feel drafting which I've never seen done in a
racing sim before.

Make SURE it is the USB version and make SURE it has software version 4.0 in
the box!

If not, it will never work right with Win2K/XP.

Even then it's kind of touchy.

I have the gameport version of the MSFF and have it running fine under
Win2K. I haven't yet loaded the software so can't comment on whther
that works or nor but using the Win2K drivers it works great anyway.
