Sidewinder Force Feedback Wheel - Not recognized in racing games, Help pls!!!

by Sean » Wed, 17 Oct 2001 01:00:49

Hello,

I have the Microsoft FF Wheel and have real problems with it most of
my racing games. It installed and tests out OK in the Sidewinder
Central utility so I know the drivers are all OK and the wheel is
functioning.

The games I've tried are, Midtown Madness 2, Colin McRae Rally 2, Gran
Prix 3 and Rally Masters. All games have not worked with the wheel at
all. In the games where I have the option to calibrate the wheel, its
just not recognizing any movements.

I was told by Microsoft to contact the game manufacturer.  I can
understand if 1 game is not  functioning correctly with the wheel, but
all 4 with the same problem?, that leads me to believe there's
something wrong on my system and not these games..

The only game I've got it to work with is Monster Truck Madness 2,
which is a Microsoft game, so I'm guessing its either not very
compatible with other manufacturers games, or something on my system
is causing this.

My system setup is as follows :

AMD Thunderbird 1Ghz
K7T Turbo Motherboard
VIA KT133A Chipset

Any help or info will be appreciated on this problem!

Regards,

Sean

Not that I can offer suggestions, but:  What kind of game card do you use?
Also, is the wheel recognized in the Game Comtroller panel?

In GP3, I think you need to have "control driven ????" checked, when you
calibrate the wheel in the game. I am having terrible trouble with my
MSFF in F1 2001. I have to run GP3 first before  F1 2001 recognises it.
