MS Force Feedback Pro Question

MS Force Feedback Pro Question

by Scott R. Lun » Thu, 04 Dec 1997 04:00:00

Anyone have the new MS Force Feedback Pro stick?  I'm considering
purchasing one, and I have one question:  What happens when you play an
older game with no feedback support?  I realize the FF part won't work,
but does the stick work period for older games?
I was in a couple of superstores last week and looked at a couple.
One display had all the effects being shown; the other just had the
stick sitting there.  The one just sitting there was totally limp with
no power.  Does this limpness disappear when the stick is powered up, or
only go away with FF games?
Please e-mail me on this one in case I don't have time to check this
group.

Hi,

If the game is not force feedback compatible the joystick will enter spring
mode to simulate a ordinary joystick, if the powerto the joystick is on. If
the joystick power is off it will still work as a joystick but you will not
have any force.

MS Force Feedback Pro Question

The stick is excellent!

Older games appear to work as normal with no FF.

The stick straightens as soon as power is supplied. (It also sounds like its
taking off due to the cooling fan.

Highly recommended, even if you are left handed (I am and for about 30
minutes considered returning)

Best Games played so far (It really makes the games more enjoyable)

Tanaurs
    -    Best use of FF so far in any demo or game)

Microsoft CART Racing
    -    V.Nice road surfaces but no major crash feedback. I still can only
manage about 3 races before a rest is needed:)

Best Regards
