Microsoft or Logitech Wingman Force feedback stick ??

by Need2Pe » Sun, 11 Oct 1998 04:00:00

Hi,

I find out that logitech wingman force is out in store already !
It's $169.99 CAD.  The MS force feedback pro is $189.99 + $30 rebate.

Which one should I pick ?

If I pick MS one...
Pros
-lot of games support
-more buttons
-smaller ?

Cons
-midi input (Logitech uses USB), so game might run slower ?
-older technology
-loud fan (though I was told that the new package managed
to get rid of the fan, any overheat problem then ???)

I believe both sticks do not support *** addon..which I
don't care, since I'm not a hard-core flight-sim fan.

Thanks

Thats expensive. You can get for 92$ at Chips&Bits mail order.

You must be using you joystick in some *** ways. *** addon? hehe

I should get my FF Wingman middle of next week. I try and tell all how I
like it.

I bought the ms stick for 120 (uk) about a month ago and was not all
that impressed with it. I am now trying to sell it.

The feedback is good, but theres too much freeplay inbetween the feedback
areas, the base at the bottom of the handle hurts your hand when using
for too long, its a stupid shape, its a year old (long time in computer
terms), the hat switch is awkward, theres no button where your thumb is,
it looks like an ugly mutant, the bundled games are ***(mdk, interstate
76), its a micro$oft product, its already started to develop squeaks and
clicks, the fire button feels cheap, all the buttons rattle like hell
when it feedsback, and loads more stuff that I haven`t got time to
explain.

I would have bought the logitech one, but it was an impulse buy, and the
logitech was not out then. I really do wish I`d waited. Don`t get the
microsoft one. It was one of the first feedback sticks out, you know the
rate that technology advances in the computer world, and the logitech one
looks sooo much nicer.

Hope that helps!

Canadian pricing?  I believe that's what he meant by "CAD".

He probably means rudder support - a problem reported in Combatsim.com's
review (and the only thing stopping me from buying one).
