Before you rush to buy the game
don't forget HASBRO has a "no patch policy"
for games as has been shown with their latest
GUNSHIP title

Do wait and read more feedback
I do hope it is not as bad as many reported.
But my suspicion is partly confirmed as I saw the
screen shots looks too much like GP2
some blockiness were evident in their screenshots

Thanks and regards

Bad timing there dude.

GunShip! Patch - 4:47 PM EST

This customizable version of Gunship! allows you to alter the way the
program behaves. The following keys have also been added: Shift W -
deletes waypoint 1 and ` (tilda) - cycles weapons. This version loads the
custom.ini file and alters the settings it finds specified. You must
alter the custom.ini file (text) in order for your preferences to take
effect.

I'm sure if the game warrants patching after release, it will be patched.

Cheers,
Rod.

Didn't Falcon 4.0 get up to version 1.8 via mulitple patches?

Hehe, bad timing indeed.
OTOH, while apparently there is a patch for GS, it doesn't seem to be
really supported by MPS. It rather looks like the developers were
(after some fight with the suits) allowed to post one of their later
builds. And that build fixes only a fraction of the bugs and flaws.

Sorry for the OT. :-)

Well that's a good fit then, as Crammond has the same policy as well.

i think HASBRO came up with the "no patch policy "
AFTER THE FALCON 4 debacle

Programmers disagreed with the approach
and promptly got the kick!!

I truly feel sorry for the Falcon4 team
It is evident now that indeed the Falcon programme
is ahead of its time, ( bugs and all )

sorry for the OT

Right. They canceled all F4 addons and fired the F4 team
after a year. This IMHO is worse.

The first incidence of this I can recall was several years ago
when MPS released "Across the Rhine". That game was
highly touted and totally sucked. They didn't patch it because
it would have almost required a total rewrite, so everyone
(and I mean everyone) was pissed. My theory is that this
single incident marked the start of the downward spiral for
MPS and simulators (racing and flight) in general.

Hasbro didn't own Microprose at the time.

The Falcon 4 project has been disbanded unfortunately...

When are the money men going to realise that object orientism extends
to games too - how much would we love it if you could upgrade a game's
graphics engine in the same way as MS upgrade DirectX ??

Hasbro took over MPS a few months before F4 was released.
The F4 team were told to release the game in DEC 98 or
shut down the entire project.
