From Hasbro's track record with GP3 and SoS 1937, I wouldn't get your
hopes up for NASCAR Heat.
Just save your money and stick with NASCAR 4

Completely different developers. NASCAR Heat is as good as advertised, trust
me. Since many of the development team are ex-Papyrus guys, they aren't
starting from scratch on this one, and it shows.

They are the team that made Viper Racing, I believe - a pretty good
track record!

I fully expect Nascar 4 to be suberb, but we could very well get two
great Nascar games this year.

Not true- according to Ed Martin, NH will support AT LEAST 8 in
multiplayer..not a solid figure of 8.

Wow -- very insightful . . . I'm underwhelmed.

You ever hear of "Viper Racing," by chance, or are you *completely*
uninformed?

LMAO.  Just like GP3 would, right?  That got great previews and looked good
until I saw it on my screen.  Don't get me wrong NH will be very solid, but
from what I've read in those previews about everyone has conceded N4 will
have more to it (well at least in realism), but this is --finally-- the
first challenger Papy will ever face in a NASCAR sim.

But I'm interested to hear how you think it'll blow N4 away?  What have the
previews said about NH where they said it had something that N4 doesn't?
(other than the possibility of a couple tracks, although I think someone
here said N4 will)

-Just curious, did you praise and hype up GP3 before it came out? <grin>
(By the way, I have Viper Racing........)

I think they will both be good for their own reasons. But the one that
will prevail for serious folks is the one that has the best
multiplayer. 8 is listed as Heat's "at least" number of drivers in
multiplayer. They probably mean "recommended" as the more cars there
are the worse it will be. As far as Papy, we've been known to have
decent turnouts in a race (with the warp) but who knows how N4's multi
will turn out.

GP3 video looked like neat, didn't it? I really doubt Hasbro/MicroPiss
products since Falcon 4.0. I read a statement at simracingnews.com,
"Hasbro is dominating development manner" or something.

well for one thing it will have a track editor and the other option beat the
heat will be interesting and they said the ai will run 4 or 5 wide on some
tracks and thats better then the choo choo train ai in papy sims also did
you see the decal setup screenshots it is way better than the dull graphics
in papy sims. prediction nascar heat will beat n4 this year as the #1 nascar
sim!!!!!!!!!!!! also fire when you blow a motor and the scraps on the wall
will stay there all race. and also full different pit stalls based on
qualifying. I can go on and on!!!!!!!!

<SNIP>

Not at all -- in fact, the most I did prior to its release was
occasionally lambast people for all the unwarranted build-up,
especially when folks started slamming F12K, proclaiming that GP3 would
be better even though they hadn't even seen yet, just because of
Crammond's involvement.  From the start, I've felt that GP3 was
overrated and would never live up to the expectations, but, that said,
I think the finished product is actually nicely-done, even if it does
not seem to exhibit the same level of physics modeling that you find in
GPL, F12K, or Viper Racing.

And here we go building up the expectations for N4 before we ever get a
glimpse at the final product, in much the same way we built up our
hopes for GP3.  Is the irony lost on anybody but me?  I'm frankly not
going to be all that surprised if the application of the GPL physics
model to modern-day NASCAR stockers doesn't turn out to be as
satisfying as everybody thinks it will. I'd guesstimate that the end
result will feel something like Viper Racing or SCGT -- which,
amazingly enough, is pretty much where NH will fall as well.

Still, don't mind me -- let the build-up begin.
