It's getting to be pretty late in the day of the 27th, are they going to miss
another deadline?

Also, I noticed on the track map of Monza, part of the track is grayed out.  It
looks as if Parabolica and half of the oval aren't going to be used.  After
Ascari (which wouldn't be called that in '37), there's a ninety degree left and
a short straight joining up with the oval.  Bummer, I wanted the whole 10 km.

That's the configuration Monza was raced back then. I think the 10km
version was used only around 1960.

Also, there should be a kink in the middle of the half of the
oval. Back then German cars were so fast the organisers wanted to give
Italians a change and they put in a temporary chicane to slow cars
down. This should be in SOS too, I remember seeing it in one
screenshot.

The full 10km layout was also used between 1922 and 1933.
In 1934 they raced a weird configuration: along the start straight,
round a 180 degree hairpin and back along the other side of the start
straight, round Parabolica in reverse (or Vedano as it was then known), then
turned right onto the link road and right again onto the oval.
In 1935-38 they raced the configuration as shown in SoS, but in 1935-36
there were 5 temporary chicanes littered around the circuit - three in
roughly the places they have chicanes now, plus 2 on the oval bit. For
1937-38 only the 2nd of the oval-chicanes was used, and none of the
roadcourse ones.

Bart,

I agree with you 100% and understand your frustration with our web site.
 I
am not sure why SOS 1937 is only being released in Europe.  This puzzles me
as two of the tracks are located in the USA.  Usually the argument (at
least for Formula 1) is that there are no American drivers and no races are
run in the USA.  Obviously this argument doesn't hold any water with SOS
1937.

Thank you for your frank email.  I will forward it to the marketing and web
site people in hopes that this will spark some change or at least get them
to release the game in the USA.

PS-I understand the demo was delayed due to some last minute technical
problems and they hope to post it by this weekend.

Just goes to show that daft chicanes are not just a modern problem!
