Got a Logitech Formula Force GP at CompUSA earlier ($79 after mail-in
rebate, not bad). The included software, Wingman 3.62, installs and detects
the wheel fine under Win98, but under Win2k it fails miserably. Anyone else
have experience with these problems? I've removed everything else from the
USB hub, have no other controllers connected anywhere, no difference.

Works OK for me (however the Profiler kills hibernation).  I think you have
to be careful to install the software with the USB cable disconnected then
connect it when you're told to.

Also, make sure you get the newer 3.65 drivers for Win2K at
www.wingmanteam.com.

Well the newer drivers managed to detect the wheel, but there are still
problems... most importantly, the pedals refuse to calibrate properly.
The full range of motion of both pedals only translate to about 15-75%
of the ranges on the calibration screen. So driving an automatic in NFS:PU
means that with your foot all the way down, you never get out of first
gear! Also, Profiler consistently fails to recognise the wheel on startup,
no matter what I do. The force feedback seems to work (God, what
a rattling noise though), although I am taking a noticeable performance
hit compared to using a pad.

Performance hit is big with N4 and FF enabled. I disabled
FF in N4 and it runs smooth with W2K

Forgot to mention , not much of a hit in GPL
with FF enabled.

Do you get all the engine/road "rumble"? (e.g. skittering about at the
begining of Normandie)? My Thrustmaster doesn't with W2K + NFS:PU - I just
get collisions.

Actually, I had a Force GP for a while.  I thought the software was
brilliant under Win2K.

I ended up taking it back because it developed this horrific squeal in the
shaft that literally drove the cat outside when I turned the wheel.

Since I heard others complain of the same, I bailed out while I still could.

I have got the LWFF to work under Win2k, by downloading the Win2k drivers
from the Logitech web site.

That is, the wheel itself works OK within GPL, but I can't get the Control
Panel applet to work properly (all the text on the buttons is scrambled),
and I also have the same problem with the profiler.
