Bryon,
I have said it before and I will say it again, Direct3D is a horrible,
broken, code heavy API and it may not ever be fixed. If and when
Microsoft restarts from scratch there may be some way to save the D3D
version. Too bad, the Glide version rocks!

I have a Stealth II and a Monster. There is no noticeable difference in speed
between the D3D and the 3dfx version. If the Stealth gets a fault in the driver
fixed Id prefer to race with the Stealth because of the better picture
quality. No stutters, only some slowdowns within the first few laps in my
system (IP200MMX).

Cheers!

I have a PPRO200 96MB with Matrox Mystique 4MB and F1RS is running in
D3D very well on it. I have all graphics On except Replay. I can compare
it with my friends system that is a P200MMX 32 MB and Orchid Righteous
3D and the difference is not so big that I will rush out and buy a 3DFX
board.

I like the game very much. I think this is the best Sim so far. But I
can only compare it to ICR2 and the demo of CPR.

good. (faster than any other recent game such as Toca).
Maybe you should kick out the sky texture. On s'en fout du ciel, il vaut
mieux regarder la route.

I read many good things about F1RS from voodoo owners! I have the
D3D version running on a iP233MMX and Viper 330 and it just plain
stinks. Has anyone gotten good results with the D3D version? ie no
stutters, good feel and decent sensation of speed?

P166 Vanilla/64Mb/Diamond Viper V330. Replay and sky off. Very smooth.
After the 1.05 patch, even faster. There must be something very wrong
with your system.

D3D's crap, eh? After hearing all those praising testimonials about the
Voodoo version of F1RS I just had to go out and get myself a Canopus Pure
3D. The Voodoo version of F1RS runs very well and I should be happy but I
can't help feeling a little disappointed since the difference to Viper
run D3D version was hardly visible. Oh well, there are and will be other
games that'll more than justify the purchase. Longbow2 for example.

First of all. I have not run the demo of the game. I am running the
complete F1RS. And I do not have another 3d add on card. The Mystique is
a very good D3D card of its own.

This statement might have been true a year ago (I had one myself).
But today the picture quality and the performance are only entry level.

Maybe you are right. But I don't replace hardware each year. And it is
funny that so many people are getting poor results when running F1RS in
D3D version while I get very good results with my "entry level"
Mystique. I think I stick with my "entry level" board a little longer.
