Guys,
    Does anybody here play online with a 3COM US Robotics 56K Faxmodem??
I just bought one and was hoping it would solve my awful latency issues
but no luck. My download speeds went up but the latency is still awful.
Are there any settings I could add or change to get a decent latency for
online play?? Earthlink is my ISP if that matters.

Gerald,
Try this:
1)  Click on Start, Settings, Control Panel
2)  Double-click on the Modems icon
3)  Click the Properties button
4)  Click on the Connections tab
5)  Click the Advanced button
6)  Place this in the Extra Settings line:  S32=66
7)  OK out of all the windows

This has helped my latency greatly.

I use a USR 56K Voice Fax Modem on my USB port. No special settings and I
get very good low latency connections even to servers in the UK (I'm in
Canada).
