Another N2 Question Concerning Multiplayer...

by Jody Min » Sun, 12 Jan 1997 04:00:00

I've just started racing my buddy in multiplayer.  First time we tried
it, it worked just fine (I was expecting problems and major tweeking
but it worked like a charm).  Second time we tried it, we did
everything the same way, but when he chooses to practice, he goes to
the track and my machine locks up.  No chat box, no track, nothing.  I
have to reboot.  This occurs when I call him.  So, we tried him
calling me.  No problem with communications and neither machine locks
up.  So we got a little bit of racing in.  I'm worried, however, that
if it happend once one way, it'll happen again the other way.  Has
this happened to anyone else?

And while I'm at it, can anyone tell me why this occurs:

The answerer has control of the game.. BUT
It appears that he sees the cars listed in his entry list and I see
the cars listed in my entry list.  When I raced him last night, on my
screen was the 24 and 18 cars.  On his screen were the 7 and 12 cars.
BUT, the chat box says hello to Bobby Labonte in the 24 car.  Is there
ONE entry list that governs multiplayer racing?  The first time we
tried this we made identical entry lists, but the computer kept
switching the car numbers and drivers around (i.e. Bobby Labonte in
the 24 car).  Does anyone know what's going on?  Jim?...

Thanks

Jody

I think we have a few bugs in multiplayer in NCR2.

I have noticed all these things too.

REPLY:

You reached BUG CITY!!

First there is no 1 master list for multiplayer. Each players list governs
what they see.

But there's more than meets the eye. To make a long story short do this.

First I'm assuming you want Your name in there.

Lets say your the Answerer:

Your list looks like this

1. You  (Name & Car)
2. Your Buddy (Name & Car)

The dialers would look like this

1. Your Car but your Buddies NAME.
2. Your buddy (Name and Car)

What the heck am I saying?

Your buddy needs to go into the drivers profile and change your name on your
car to his name.

By doing this this corrects the bugs. When you race you will see his car right
with his name right on the standings board. When he's racing he'll see you
right with your name correct on the standings list. If you don't do this
you'll either see a wrong car for one another or your names will not be
correct on the standings list. This bug here I believe Papy told me will not
be fixed on the first patch but will be fixed before NRO.

If you need more detial e-mail.

Been there done that unfortunately. :(
