Need Help With N2 Multiplayer Option...

by Jody Min » Sun, 05 Jan 1997 04:00:00

Just got the game...just started lurking; boy, you guys sure are
experienced...hope you can help...

I finallly figured out that I am always the first guy on the entry
list.  Since the manual states that for multioption playing only one
HUMAN player can be listed, does my racin' buddy simply put whatever
car he wants at the top of his list (and me the same) and then we
race?

I've just started playing around with this; glad you guys are here to
help!

Thanks

Jody

I believe the answerer will be put in the second car listed, and the
dialer gets put in the first car although I may have gotten it
backwards.  Each of you should make a .car file for each other and
place both your car and your opponent's in the appropriate slot in the
entry list.

What you have to do is this and it's not really fun.

Player 1 Answer (Have your car 1 his car 2 then the rest of the pack)

Copy your cars directory over to his OR make sure yours are both identical
otherwise you may encounter problems. For multiplayer games you are forced to
use the Multi player list I do believe.

Player 2 Dial (To have his name actually come up correctly on the F2 standings
list (GET THIS) he has to change the Answer (player 1's name) to his name on
his computer and keep his name as player 2 as well. Yes it's a BUG. This way
when you race everything is displayed properly on both cars and names. So in
final on players 2 screen (if his name was Bob) would read Player 1's car #
and Bob on top, then Player 2's car # and Bob in the two hole, Earnhart and
the rest will then follow. Player 1's screen would look logical. If player two
doesn't do this his car would be identified correctly in car # but his name
would be the same name as player 1's.

What I've done personally in a 4 player situation (with about 15 humans)  to
simplify it for me was to call everybody car RACER, each node car is numbered
1 through 4. So the display reads Car #1 Racer or Car #2 Racer ect. This way
we know who's who without having to make changes everytime somebody new comes
in. That was a nightmare. Yes it states Car #1 but it could be another number
actuall on the car, not huge for us, since on the bumpers for each car I have
plastered Racer 1, Racer 2 ect..

What your dealing with is a bug so you have to compensate this. The good news
for you is if it's only 2 players and your always the same two. Then really
it's not to bad. For NRO they'll have to fix this.

If this isn't clear enough E-mail me. I think I have this whole situation
***ed.
