N2 problems Multiplayer

I need help with the multiplayer in N2.My freind and I can not connect we
always get a message "modem connection failed".we checked all the parity,bits
,ect......and everything is the same,but we can not get them to connect.we
run N1all the time and have no problems getting connected the first call.we
both a running N2 from the MS-DOS prompt in windows Ihave a AST pent75.and he
has a compaq pent100.wehave tried everything we can think of and even called
Sierra tech support and they haven't help us at all.if anyone can help please

The only time I've received the "modem connection failed" is when my
buddy and I had our IRQ set incorrectly.  Make sure your IRQ is what
the modem card was set up as.  Let me know if I can be of more help.
