N2 Rendition Multiplayer Question

by jungled.. » Sat, 29 Mar 1997 04:00:00

I just bought a Screamin 3D card about 2 weeks ago, and have a couple-o-questions.

A buddy of mine and I had raced N2 prior to my purchase, without any real difficulties ( barring the normal bug stuff ).   I was the dialer and he answered. (he's got the better machine.)  Tonight
was the first chance we had to try it out.  I dialed using Renddma.bat he was using N2.bat.  Everything worked fine UNTIL..................

First race attempt:  New Hampshire.  Cars bouncing all over the place I get hit and have to pit.  I go into the pits they start working the car.......PUNT.

2nd race attempt:  New Hampshire.  My buddy gets hit on the back straight, goes into the pit, they start working on his car.........I get.......... PUNT

3rd race attempt:  Michigan.   My Buddy gets spiked into the infield on turn 3 comes in to pit............. I get PUNT

4th  Michigan. (I'm running the Nascar.exe this time around)   I get smacked from behind twice during the pace lap by R. Mast.  Go into the pits..........You guessed it........... PUNT.  Anybody else
seeing a theme here? <g>

Now I know your gonna ask..... Call waiting, right?   Disabled on my end and what are the odds of my buddy getting a call each time one of us is pitting??

So Question #1  Any known problems with one driver running Renddma and one driver running N2.bat at the same time?  Does anybody thing the problem may be related?

#2  Whats up with getting punted going into the pits?   Didn't happen with my old board (#9 Vision 330).   I have no problems running the game solo.

#3 I didn't try it, but can you be the answering machine and be running Renddma?   Doesn't need the cd  to be played, right?

The only other tid bit is that my buddy is running the Nascar.exe with the patched '97 date change.   So am I in normal mode....... The Renddma hasn't been patched yet........ hint.......hint....
<g>

Thanks

Jungle-man:)... I had a Reactor 3d.. now known as Intense 3d and when
I had it (3 months ago), I went through 3 of them... I now have a
Screaming 3d card (like yourself) and I've had one problem which is
Kali related!  I hooked up with a friend the other night and he used
nascar2.exe and I used renddma.bat and we had no problems... I have a
pentium 150-24 megs of RAM... 28.8 modem... I have no problems at all
with the Screaming 3d and I must say... compared to the Intense 3d
(don't get mad Intergraph people) it buries the Intense 3d.. atleast
my present Screaming 3d compared to a Reactor 3d of 3 months ago
(maybe new drivers???)... I must say... on Intergraph's part.. that in
my circumstances (plural.. shouldn't have had multiple problems:)
their tech support was GREAT... I can't say for Sierra's tech because
I haven't had need to call them (FIGURE IT OUT:))

[snip]

I don't think I can answer that question, but I do regularly modem race in
N2 and I have a Rendition board, but I believe that everyone I've modem
raced also has a Rendition board.

Just as another sample point, you might try running the VESA version and
see what happens. It will work just fine on your Rendition card, though the
graphics won't be quite as fluid.
