N2 SOUND AND RENDITION PROBLEMS

by bigd.. » Sat, 07 Dec 1996 04:00:00

WIN95            WHEN I DO AUTO SOUNDCARD DETECT from win95 it detects
      soundcard Adlib Gold Mono
      address   38c
      irq       none
dma       0      (if you click "test sound" it locks up and you
have to boot it back to windows)
If I try to load the game using the "rendition" icon I get
booted back to windows. If I use the straight "nascar2" icon the game
loads but there is no sound.

DOS          When I do AUTO SOUNDCARD DETECT from dos it detects
     soundcard  Microsoft Sound System Stereo
     address    530
     irq        none
     dma        1

If I try to load the game using "n2rend or renddma" the game
loads but when I select a track it says "could not load complete track
description" and will not load a track. Using "n2" in dos is the only
thing that works.
THE RENDITION VERSION OF ICR2 WORKS FINE AND ON SOUND DETECT
IT AND NASCAR11 BOTH FIND
SOUNDCARD- MICROSOFT SOUND SYSTEM 8 STEREO
           PORT     - 530
           IRQ      - 7
           DMA      - 1
   I HAVE A P133 16MEGS OF RAM 8SPEED CD AND I'M USING THE 3D REACTOR
CARD FROM INTERGRAPH.SORRY THIS POST IS SO DRAWN OUT BUT I WANTED TO
GIVE AS MUCH INFO AS I COULD TO SEE IF SOMEONE COULD HELP. THANKS IN
ADVANCE TO ANYONE WHO CAN.

....SORRY THIS POST IS SO DRAWN OUT BUT I WANTED TO

I had the same problem - try copying the sound.cfg file from your Nascar
1 subdirectory to your Nascar 2 subdirectory - write over the Nascar 2
file.  This worked for me with both the N2 demo and N2 (picked it up
today at Best Buy).
