Framerate Report Geforce 4 Ti 4600 128 N2002

by St » Mon, 11 Mar 2002 00:40:42

Hi guys,
Picked up a returned GeForce 4 Ti 4600 128 at Best Buy for $360
the other day. Here is the report on framerate in N2002. Sitting in
the pit at Atlanta in a testing session at 1200x1600x16 the fps with
my old Geforce Ultra 2 64 meg is 65, with the GeForce 4 ti 4600 107. I
am using openGL and have the rend_ogl.ini file altered so the
anisotropic level is set to 0. I also have do not have any
antialiasing turned on. I have found that running at a higher res
gives me a better picture without the framerate hit associated with
the aa.
My hardware is an Athlon 1800 XP w/512 DDR Ram.
                            Thanks Steve Paradise

Wow...and thanks for doing a controlled comparison!!  I guess I should start
saving now!  Where does the Ti 4600 rank in the GeForce 4 hierarchy?

Have you found this to be true with the new card, or is
it based on experiments with the old?

The first benchmarks I saw compared the 4600 to a GF3 ti 500 and it was
somewhat faster in the standard modes...BUT when they enabled FSAA then the
old GF3 bogged down but the new card had a much smaller loss of fps.  So on
equal computers, it WILL be faster, but if you want fsaa, the price your
screen updates pay won't be near so bad.
