This thing runs *unbelievably* hot. It's about 28C in my house at the moment
and this thing couldn't make it through a 3DMark 2001 benchmark run without
having graphic corruption in the last few tests. I underclocked the RAM down
to 620MHz and it made it through the tests OK. Not impressed. I still
haven't put the case cover back on my PC - my CPU usually runs a few degrees
warmer with it on. To put it in perspective, the heatsink on my XP 2000+
felt cold after touching the (massive) Leadtek heatsink. The CPU is about
50C btw. FWIW the 3D Mark I got was 10480.  F12001 seems to be the only
current game (sim or otherwise) that really benefits from such a powerful
GPU.....sigh.

Then go home and wait 400 years for some decent drivers.

You know there is a distinct possibility that you got a bad card.

Nope, they're all too hot and just don't work.  It was part of the design of
the card.  The goal was to prevent sales and undermine success. I'm going
with an old S3 from now on, those things run real cold.  ;0)

infused with fear and blinded by patriotism, will offer up all of their

Aptly named "virge" because it was on the verge of 3D.  I think the code
name was 2D+1/2D.

Ah, yes... my first 3D card the S3 Virge (Diamond 3D 2000, IIRC).  What a
POS... obsolete out of the box.

Dale.
