MS FF Wheel and Nascar2???

by FlyinFin » Tue, 17 Nov 1998 04:00:00

I remember someone mentioning here that he/she got the MS FF Wheel to work
with Nascar2. If anyone has succeeded on doing this could you please mail me
or post a reply here how you did it?

I like the wheel but can't get it to work in N2.

Greetings,

I was contacted by someone in the know, but didn't hear anything since.
We just have to wait and see, if "something" happens...!?

What do you expect to happen? I bought the wheel, it works fine in N2.

Oh please, would you quit repeating that it works for you? It doesn't
work
for me and some other guys. There's already "something" in the works,
but I
can't say more...

Please explain "doesn't work"? In a manner of speaking I
can claim it doesn't work either because the joystick numbers
in the N2 calibration routine are all over the place. But the
car is very drivable. After reading the soundcard compatibility
readme in the library, I can now understand how so many
people cannot get it to work. In fact I think the list of cards
which do work may be smaller :-) Is you soundcard one of the
ones listed which don't work?

The calibration was screwed, the gauges jumped all over the place and
were never centered. The driving was screwed as well on my system,
e.g. car turning to the right, but almost no turning to the left,
lots of gas possible, but almost no brakes.

I have the SB Live! Value, and ALL other racing sims work great with
its game port.

OK that sounds like my problem. I swear when I first tried it was
very drivable. But everytime I run NR1999 I have to recalibrate
and as you say the numbers are all over the place. How about
the suggestion from that other guy, where you get a cable that
gets the MIDI signal from the com port? Then you could use your
dedicated game card and a Joyswitch box. It also may work :-)
I may call MS and see if they can send me one before my 10 day
return time is up.
