IS there a GP3??

by L. Andre Min » Sat, 18 Jul 1998 04:00:00

Okay... what gives?

I've read on the r.a.s. that there is going to be a GP3, I've also read
here on r.a.s. that GP3's only a "rumor" and has been refuted,
suppossedly with quotes from Microprose saying they were NOT making a
GP3.  OTOH, Microprose has been quoted that they ARE going to make GP3.
(??) I've read that "Geoff Crammond" (with a New Mexico email address?)
says he is working on GP3, others say he isn't.  Is, isn't, will,
won't... does anybody truly know????  I guess time will tell, but it
would be nice to know if GP3 is genuinely being developed, or simply
"rumorware".

Hi,

well, I don't KNOW whether there will be a GP3 or not but let's just
apply some logic here....

- Crammond obviously couldn't finish GP2 the way he would have liked,
so there's your first reason for GP3

- since GP2, 3D cards have turned the sim world upside down, Crammond
MUST feel tempted to write a sim for such a card.

- It's been way too quiet. We haven't heard of any other project that
Mr Crammond might be working on.... go figure.

- Microprose is denying it all....  What a surprise !!! After the
desaster with the release date of GP2. I don't expect to hear anything
official until a week before the release this time...  :-)

conclusion:
THERE WILL BE A GP3 !  The only question is WHEN !!

Cheers !

Yup, if someone (especially a politician or a software developer) denies
something then it must be true! Look at Codies deying there would be a TOCA
2!

As I said before, "It's been done for quite some time now."  Me and Alex and Rebecca play every day. I win all the time. Some times Rebecca wins. Al blows! HA HA! He'll never win. You know why? No nerve. He can't brake late, he can't exit early, and he keeps looking at Rebecca's screen and driving into the sand.

Hoo boy...  sure is fun.

Geoff ??

So you stopped having all those orgies in your Multi-million dollar mansion
on your private island.  So now it's just a threesome with you, Alex and
that Rebecca ?

The AI blows ?

Hmmm...  so now your doing some virtual sex ?

As I said before, is it a true rumor that on your Cray supercomputer when
you race at Gp2 you need to take off the sky at Monaco to get a <100%
Occupancy ?

The only _truely_ reliable info that we have is Geoff Crammond confirming GP3 in
an interview with the English magazine PC FORMAT. No dates, no details.

What does "(sic)" mean?  I've seen it before.
Don't hate me because I'm stupid.

You've never seen a Cray, have you, Francois? My Cray runs 67,492 instances of GP2 with all graphics on at Monaco, at less than 34% PO each.

F1RS is somewhere near infinity.

There seems to be no or little doubt that that Magazine's in the Uk are
convinced that it will exist. One has to wonder two other things though:

Are Microprose going to publish it?

Seems so, the MD referred to it as an upcoming product in CTW's recent profile
on Microprose.

Are whoever publishes it, going to get an FIA License?

Lets hope so. It seems to be getting harder these days to achieve.... :)

Well, it does mean "thus" or "so," but that's only part of its use in Bruce's
message.  When in parens or brackets, it is used to show that a passage is
correctly quoted ... even if the passage contains an obvious error (as in the
spelling "truely" in the original message) or something questionable.

It's a high-tone way of saying the person being quoted either can't spell or
can't think.  ;-)

Right, Bruce?  ;-)
