ok...

Both Jags Crash, along with De La Rosa

McLarens All Blow their engines, after a brief 1 -2 lead to start the race,
Mika obviously in front....

Then Ferraris and Jordan's go at it, Shu with a big lead....

Jordan's blow up...

Shu looses 2 seconds off his laps, Other Ferrari guy takes lead, running
away. and decides to make a last minute decision to get some fuel just for
fun. (Wanted to get his pit crew guys a bit more practice?) Schumacher gets
4 additional champ points.

Ralf gets 3rd, team mate Button was doing good, before he blew up...

BAR got in the points...

Bottom Line everyone good blew up, then Ferrari decided who needed the
points most...

Would you rather have had RB run out of fuel?  Don't forget that he had set
the fast lap moments earlier... maybe he was light on fuel.  That splash and
go he had earlier was probably to get him past Frentzen.

But who knows?  We have the rest of the season to show us who's quickest.

Yea, right.
Or maybe ferrari decided who neede points most.

Maybe so, since we all know about Irvine's contract last year.  But compare
the times for RB's pit (9)and MS' (13).  Could be a reason for that.  I'd
think it more probable that RB had an earlier splash and go and had to come
back in later. But once again..who knows?  We'll see how the season goes.
It'll become obvious who's faster as time goes on.

If RB was on a lighter fuel load don't you think he would keep on going
until he was near empty considering a lighter fuel load is faster and he
just set the fastest lap of the race? RB said he didn't know he was
going to have another pit stop until that lap, don't you think the
driver would know roughly how much fuel was in the car, I would think
so. F1 is famous for Yanking a driver to let another win, it's sad
really. I wish they would trash all the politics and just let them race.

My conjecture at the time was that Schumacher knew that RB quickpitted
on the first stop and would need to stop again.  He was running a one
pitstop strategy himself and knew that there was no good reason not to
be conservative, save fuel and tires, let his teammate run up front
for a while and then take it back while he pitted.  Nobody else behind
was even close, so why take chances?

You are right. Ferrari switched Barrichello to a two stop race to get him
past Frentzen.

All this talk about Ferrari giving Schumacher the win is soap opera
nonsense.

Ferrari's cars are still reliable, and now just as fast as McLaren's.

Schumacher is still the greatest driver in the world.  :-)

Maybe your right, who knows, but F1 has done this type of thing in the
past.

The real "proof" is what happened after the Pitstop.
Did Ruebens reel in Schumi again?  Nada...Nope...Nyet...

sorry yeah Shu didn't blow up, I just meant "everyone... else... good blew
up"

or something, and yeah there was a little knock on the Ferrari ownership,
just to see how you guys would respond to that, I'm quite curious about it,
and so where the announcers...

quite frankly, it's too bad Shu's first win there was so tarnished, I mean
all the competition was gone at that point, and then there's curious pit
strategy...

so Schumacher know RB was on a 2 pit strategy, and RB himself didn't know
till that lap?

RB did know....he said so himself at the podium meeting afterwards...

Bulls**t.  I knew he was on a 2 pitstop strategy when he only took six
seconds of fuel on the first stop and Schumacher took nine.  They are
also teammates.  That helps just a touch, too.

FWIW - I happen to be crew chief and race strategist for a successful
SCCA sportscar team.  I'm somewhat familiar with this sort of thing.
I spend more time watching what the other teams are doing than my
driver.  I have a race tactician for that...
