There was absolutely no contoversy over that in my opinion. In fact, the
race was a true test of people and material, and Ruebens gave a great
performance (although I am partial to it, as he is my favourite driver).
And, BRAVO, Jensen Button. A splendid performance for the first race,
too bad his car broke down. I hope this will silence his critics.

No person's opinions can be said to be
more correct than another's, because each is
the sole judge of his or her own experience.

Rubens was also very clear in the post race press conference that he was on a two
stop strategy and that that was decided by Ross Brawn right before he came in for
the first stop.
I am constantly amazed at the amount of bullshit posted about Michael
Schumacher. After every single race there is a slew of moronic comments,
*** theories, etc. Every trivial thing of the entire race weekend is
dissected and interjected with anti-Schumacher invective. It really is
unbelievable.

Sigh, this is unbelievable. Did any of you actually watch the race?
Ruebens is badly stuck behind a Jordan and essentially unable to pass on
the course. They decide that they may be able to pass the Jordan in the
pits; to do so you have to have a _very_ fast pitstop; you cannot
one-stop and get the required pit-time. As well, the general idea in
two-stopping is to be able to run faster due to lighter fuel load. So
they haul him in early in an attempt to be ahead of the Jordan after the
Jordan pit-stop. Turns out they didn't need to.
At the end, Ruebens does not have enough fuel to finish. Shu is running
slow since he doesn't need to run fast. So he lets Ruebens pass to pit
and not lose too much time. Ruebens doesn't charge at the end since he
has no hope in hell of making up about 20 seconds and passing in the
remaining laps.
Thanks, Paul. Finally someone who knows what they're talking about. There was absolutely no controversy. Schumacher slowed way down to save his car since there was no threat. He slowed way down and pulled over for Rubens to let him by so that Rubens could get to the pits as quickly as possible, refuel, and get back out ahead of Ralf Schumacher (the driver in third).
Rubens was also very clear in the post race press conference that he was on a two stop strategy and that that was decided by Ross Brawn right before he came in for the first stop.

Congrats Ferrari anyway, brilliant car with the two best drivers (in
my opinion anyway).

It's just *completely* unneccesary.

As for the pit, it is also my impression. RB's first stop had just a
little more than 6 sec. of refuelling. On the Italian TV, Giorgio
Piola said that a 1 stop strategy takes around 11-12 sec. for fuel,
while a 2 stop strategy takes under 10 sec. to complete. I think this
was done to get RB out from the Jordan couple .
