GPL Stuttering

Can anyone help me sort out the stuttering within GPL - specifically when
I'm racing at the Kyalami course.

Depite turning off practically all the video options and sound, racing only
5 drivers, turning down the resolution to 800x600 and trying both D3D and
OpenGL the race is ruined by the sudden breaks in play. This isn't happening
on the other courses, so why is Kyalami different?

BTW the PC has a Geforce3 (64Mb) and a P4 2Ghz with 512 Mb Ram so I would
have thought the game wooud have no issues at all. Also have up to date
video and audio drivers.

Any help or input would be appreciated

I'd be suspicious of irq conflicts.  For a quick test, try removing the
soundcard.  If the problem goes away, its likely the soundcard is plugged
into a pci slot with a shared irq.

I'm no expert, but I have GPL running fine on an El-Cheapo 1.3 Ghz
Celeron with a truly horrible onboard vid/sound card. Here's some
"start here" points:

* Did you patch the game with the appropriate patch for your version
of GPL?

* Did you install the "High Speed CPU" patch?

Both the above are available at:

Good luck.
