GPL stutters after changing to ME

After "upgrading" to Windows ME I notice that at certain tracks the video
and audio on GPL "stutters" as I drive around especially the first lap. It
seems to be a memory related thing since when I upgraded to 128Mb it got
much better. It was almost undrivable with 64Mb as it would hang with the
audio looping for seconds at a time. Strange thing is that it doesn't happen
at the ring which I would have thought would use the most memory of all the
tracks. Worked fine before on W95.

Any clues? I saw a post about this some time ago but did not see a reply.

And that your video card isn't set to Vsync as that may force it to run at
only 30fps instead of 36fps max.

switch off this recovery-rubbish and make sure not to use the MS-fastfind crap.
IIRC this solved the problem for me.
It has to do with HD-access when driving the first lap.

BTW: The next (more complicated) surgery would be to redistribute the IRQ's.

Happens to me too, and I've got 192 Mb. I think WinME allocates RAM as needed
and starts off kind of stingy. That's my theory. No facts to back it up of
course. ;-)

Where do you disable this.

Tried disabling system restore and find fast, no change 8^(
I love it how a microsoft "upgrade" causes a degradation in performance!

I gave up and "Upgraded" to W98-SE and all works perfectly now!
