Frame Rate & Windows

by Volker Busc » Thu, 04 May 1995 04:00:00

In some files (gpperf.txt, gplap.txt) is mentioned that it is possible
to run GP under Windows. I have a 386 DX/40 and have the frame rate set to 20.0
and cpu-occupancy is below 100% if launched from DOS. All works well.

First problem:
When I start GP within Windows, the cpu-occupancy raise to above 300%, as soon
as sound begins. (I have a Soundblaster 8 bit). Switching off the sound the
occupancy is as it is under DOS. What's wrong?

Second problem:
Currently I have a Pentium P66 on my desk. 16MB, PCI, Graphic 2MB VRAM ...
a high end machine, one could think.
I start GP within DOS but to hold occupancy below 100% frame rate has to be
set to 15.7 !! Amazingly pushing 't' for texture hasn't any effect to
occupancy. What's wrong?

Thanks for help
