Hiya,

Here's a little utility for all you GPL on-line ***s. I
had nothing better to do this weekend anyway ;-) I hope
someone will find it useful. Here's a snippet from the
readme:

GPLOMe v1.0 (Jan 9 2000)
========================

WHAT DOES IT DO?

GPLOMe is short for GPL On-Line Messages and it enables
you to map hot keys for sending different chat messages
while you're in your car in a multi-player GPL game. So
instead of typing '<return>PO<return>' you can now simply
press F1 and watch in amazement (! :)) as GPLOMe transmits
  your message.

FEATURES

+ 10 user configurable hot keys and their corresponding
    messages.

+ Annoying sound effects (off by default :)).

  + Configurable character output delays.

...

You can grab it from here (size about 60k):
http://www.racesimcentral.net/~casper/GPLOMe10.zip

Enjoy :)

Regards,
  Casper

Aww. I was thinking why the exe was so small. I missed a small
checkbox to say to link ALL runtime libs into application. It's
fixed now. Sorry about that.

Just download the package again:

Hey, that's just what I've been looking for!!

But I wondered whether this wouldn't spawn WAY too much chat while we're
racing. After all, real drivers don't talk to eachother while they're
racing. I foresee a lot of "sorry for the fact that I inadvertedly hit your
beautiful car and knocked you off the track", instead of "s".

OK Casper, thanks for the updated fixed file<S>

BUT....i dont seem to be able to use it in multi player GPL??

Works fine on the desktop in notpad and i even tried it in the Vroc chat
rooms, but nothing happens in GPL when on line.

Ideas anyone?

Best.

A few things which I could think of:

Do you use the default hot keys or did you reprogram them? Since
there are quite a lot of possible combinations it might be that
there are some combinations that do not work in GPL. Start with
something simple. Like F1 :)

Did you change the delay settings? It might also be that
GPL 'misses' keystrokes if the delay is too small. Although
I kind of doubt this..

Were you sitting in your car at the track? It might not work
correctly in the GPL chat window.

Do you have in-car chat enabled? :)

Can you send a message from in-car chat by typing it your
self (<enter>test<enter>) ?

If you've checked all the above and everything looks good
then it SHOULD work. I'm kinda out of ideas if it doesn't :(

  Casper

It doesn't work for me either.

Default

No

Yes.  In car at track.

Yes

Yes.  Even with the program running when I press F1 I get Help...

I'm sure it's something on my end.  Let me know if you figure it out.  It
would definitely be nice if it sat in the system tray ;)
