I have downloaded GPL and have installed it. But when I go to load the
program I get the follownig error message:

I am running a Cyrix chip P166+ along with an ATI Pro Turbo Graphic
card. I know I cannot expect 3D graphics but is there a compatibility
problem with the Cyrix chip?

Any help would be appreciated.

Could you perhaps be running a cyrix chip? Both me and my brother tried
installing it on our computers and we both got the same GPF errors when
running the game....From reading around on the web it appears others with
Cyrix chips are experiencing the same problem.

Any official word on the demo's compatibility with Cyrix chips?

Hi all I have a Cyrix PR200 and am getting the same error. I am going
ro send an email to papy to address this. This is what demos are for I
guess. Ill let everyone know if I hear anyrthing. If anyone else hears

I believe older Cyrix chips (and AMD K5's) lack a feature which provides
a stable, reliable clock that is accessible to software applications.
If Papyrus is using this feature in GPL, perhaps that would explain why
older Cyrixes seem to be giving problems with the GPL demo, while newer
Cyrixes and AMD K6's seem to work fine.  

K6's are getting to be dirt cheap these days.  At a recent computer
show, I saw K6-200's hovering dangerously near the $100 price point.
IMHO, GPL is worth the cost of the upgrade.
